Description

Gerard Way rising from the devastation of 9/11 to create the most inspiring band in the world today [In My Opinion].

EDIT: To the people saying that they are offended by this painting and are ignorant about what My Chemical Romance has to do with 9/11 - you should know that the event is very significant in the band's genesis. Gerard was in New York that day and saw the towers fall. Because of that, he quit his pointless corporate job to go out and do something important with his life. He created the band to make a difference. (Incidentally, the song that inspired this was the first that was ever written by them and is all about that day - read the lyrics).
I've used the towers as a symbol - a turning point. That something good can come out of a place where everything seems bad.
Sorry if you're offended, but art is art. You're entitled to your opinon. :)
P.S. What I noticed most about those negative comments was that no one asked how 9/11 might have affected me personally. Nice knee-jerk reaction guys. Good to know an artistic community is so open minded. *sarcasm*

EDIT PART TWO: I am 37 years old. I've lived long enough in this world to have a fairly good idea about who I am and what I believe. I refuse to get into pointless arguments with teenagers about my taste in music. If you can't get past "omg i hate gerard way and mcr suck" then don't bother making a comment. I joined this site to get constructive criticism from fellow artists, not to be harangued by children.

Acrylic paint on masonite board.

Inspired by the My Chemical Romance song, 'Skylines and Turnstiles':

You’re not in this alone
Let me break this awkward silence
Let me go, go on record
Be the first to say I’m sorry
Hear me out
And if you take me down
Or would you lay me out
And if the world needs something better
Let’s give them one more reason now, now, now

We walk in single file
We light our rails and punch our time
Ride escalators colder than a cell

This broken city sky
Like butane on my skin
Stolen from my eyes
Hello angel, tell me where are you
Tell me where we go from here
Tell me we go from...

And in this moment we can’t close the lids on burning eyes
Our memories blanket us with friends we know
Like fallout vapours
Steel corpses stretch out towards an ending sun
Scorched and black
It reaches in and tears your flesh apart
As ice cold hands rip into your heart

That’s if you’ve still got one that’s left
Inside that cave you call a chest
And after seeing what we saw
Can we still reclaim our innocence
And if the world needs something better
Let’s give them one more reason now

This broken city sky
Like butane on my skin
Stolen from my eyes
Hello angel, tell me where are you
Tell me where we go from here
Tell me we go from here...
