THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!!!!!
"You like me...you really, really like me!!!"

Effusive enough for you? :D

Seriously, to get a THIRD Daily Deviation is like, beyond amazing. Cheers to everyone for their comments and the ginormous favouriting frenzy. I've spent a couple of hours going through my inbox and there are still more coming in. I won't have a hope of getting back to each one individually, so this measly journal entry will have to do. Once again - THANK YOU!!

Special shout-outs to DragonWinter for suggesting me and to ArtisticAunJuli for the feature.

Oh, and yeah, I'm not kidding. The second (as-yet-untitled) X Files movie is released here in Australia on July 24. You can read all about it here: [link]

I'm looking forward to it even more than the Indiana Jones and Hellboy sequels. ;)

Well, doesn't it always happen? You go away for the weekend, and when you come home your Deviant Art account has gone all crazy.
"What could have caused this?" you ask, frantically scrolling through all the thousands of comments to get some kind of indication...

OH MY GOD! MY JAYNE COBB DRAWING GOT A DD!! *freaks*

Holy moly! I can't believe the response. THANK YOU SO MUCH to all those who watched and faved and otherwise gave comments, both positive and constructive. My watcher's list has ballooned out to 1,500. Gah!!

On a calmer note, I did notice that a few people were intrigued by my mention of 'layering' for this pic. It's a technique I use whereby I build up in layers, starting with the lightest pencil, then spraying with fixative, erasing some of it, and starting again with a darker pencil and so on - sometimes multiple times. It's a fairly tedious process, so it takes me a long, loooonnngg time to finish a drawing. The Jayne Cobb one especially was one of the most labour-intensive pieces I've done. It took months.

A word of warning for those wanting to try a variation of this - if you're not careful you can overdo the fixative and the paper will warp from the moisture.

So, there you have it. Once again, thanks everybody. You guys rock. Seriously.

Hi-ya peeps!

It's been a while. I haven't had a lot of time for my art lately, but I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has commented and faved and are watching. I've got over 930 watchers now, which is... well, sort of creepy really. :XD:

So yeah, thanks everybody!

WOW! Part Two

Wed Oct 11, 2006, 4:08 PM
No sooner had I reached 500 watchers than I get a DD and the whole gallery lights up like a gorram Christmas Tree! My watchers list has now ballooned out to 693!!! Whew! THANK YOU so much to everyone who favourited and commented and left dev-messages. You people rock. Seriously.

There were too many to answer individually, so I thought I'd be best if I gave an explanation for the most repetitive comment right here:

Yes. I do realize that ROCK STAR SPIKE looks like Billy Idol. That was done purposefully. Joss Whedon once said that Spike's look was based on a cross between Idol and Keifer Sutherland's David character from The Lost Boys. It's a good combination and it works very, very well. *sigh*

It's also backed up by a scene from Season 7 where Buffy is looking for Spike. She descibes him, and the doorman says, "Oh, the Billy Idol wannabe?" She replies, "Actually, Billy Idol stole his look from... Nevermind."

Also, and I'm revealling my true obsesso status here, Spike was in Central Europe during the 80s. I doubt he would have been influenced much on the big-hair trend (ala Bon Jovi, Motley Crue et al) and grunge completely passed him by. He stuck to his punk roots. The fact that he didn't change that much from between 1977 and 1997 when he turned up in Sunnydale kind of proves that.

Okay, rant over. :XD:

Oh, and just a note to those who ask - I don't do commissions or sell prints. Sorry.
